Nancy Meckler is an American born director, known for her innovative approach to theatre, specifically her work in the United Kingdom with Shared Experience, where she was a joint artistic director alongside Polly Teale. Educated in both the USA and England, she has directed for a number of prominent theatres, including the Globe Theatre, the Royal National Theatre, and the Royal Shakespeare Nancy Meckler is an award-winning theatre and film director. Having grown up in Long Island, she moved to the UK to train in classical acting at LAMDA. In 1969, she co-founded and ran Freehold, one of the main alternative theatre companies to emerge in London at the time.
