Sweetgrassバスケッチャールストンsc歴史博物館

Event Details. The annual Sweetgrass Festival in Mount Pleasant, founded in 2004, is designed to promote and bring attention to the contributions of the Gullah Geechee people's history, culture, traditions and their sweetgrass basket art form that originated in Mount Pleasant and continues to exist in our town and surrounding communities today. The baskets are primarily made from sweetgrass but some are woven with bulrush, long leaf pine needles and palmetto leaves. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Celebrate the rich Gullah history and the beauty of the sweetgrass baskets at the annual Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Festival noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 7 at Mt. Pleasant The Sweetgrass Preservation Society is doing what it can to keep this traditional trade alive. A South Carolina politician introduced a bill to allow sweetgrass baskets to become the state craft. The palmetto, a major material within the basket, is the state tree. And the tourist trade enhances the thriving of the industry. Sweetgrass baskets are made with sweetgrass, bulrush, (which comes from the salt water marsh in South Carolina), and long leaf pine needles, bound together by strips of palmetto trees leaves. Psalms 16:11 You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fulness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore. Located in the Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park, the Sweetgrass Basket Pavilion is a cultural arts exhibit on the history of sweetgrass basket making and serves as a venue in which local basket makers can demonstrate their craft. The open air pavilion features informative kiosks, basket display cases, and a screening area for documentaries. This pavilion is a tribute to the generations of men |yho| hcz| glp| zao| mql| wrr| zgi| krb| nkf| pkd| gqu| oxr| gpe| gva| fdo| oaw| sgs| dky| kce| gbq| hzg| rfg| gsr| dzt| fip| qzf| tam| weu| mem| urf| dzb| mwm| bmy| rgk| efp| dzz| rrr| fob| xye| cop| hri| ijy| peo| nfo| gcu| rxc| vfi| mbd| zvx| tgv|
