John Amos Comenius was born on March 28, 1592, in the village of Nivnitz, Eastern Moravia, The Czech Republic. He and his family spoke the Bohemian tongue (Spinka, 1943 ). His father was a miller and a member of a religious group known as the Moravian Brethren (Comenius, 1910; Krulj et al., 2020 ). Laurie ( 1972) described this sect of Bohemian John Amos Comenius, a Czech theologian, philosopher, writer, and educational reformer, was born on 28 March 1592 in southeast Moravia, today's Czech Republic. The exact place of his birth is uncertain (it could have been Uherský Brod, Nivnice, or Komňa). His family belonged to the Unity of the Brethren, a Czech church, of which Comenius John Amos Comenius (born March 28, 1592, Nivnice, Moravia, Habsburg domain [now in Czech Republic]—died November 14, 1670, Amsterdam, Netherlands) was a Czech educational reformer and religious leader, remembered mainly for his innovations in methods of teaching, especially languages.
