OUR RECOMMENDED ROUTE FOR WALKING UP BLENCATHRA. If you are after adventure in the mountains, then walking up Blencathra via either Sharp Edge or Halls Fell Ridge (or both) is an excellent day out. But there are two things to be aware of: 01 - Both ridges are exposed and require some scrambling (the use of hands as well as feet) Via Blease Fell. Considered one of the easiest routes up Blencathra. Your starting point is in the small village of Threlkeld where there is a small car park and the route runs alongside this and easy to follow. The first section is fairly gentle and only becomes steep at Knowe Crag, once you've tackled this section it's an easy walk to the Sharp Edge, a Lakeland legend, is tackled in this route to Blencathra's summit. It is one of the Lake District's most famous Grade 1 scrambles and best saved for a fine day. This walk includes the Wainwright of Blencathra - Hallsfell Top. This walk includes the Hewitt of Blencathra - Hallsfell Top This walk includes the 2 Nuttalls of Halsfell Ridge Scramble up Blencathra. Height Gained - 720 metres , Distance - 3 km, Time - 2 hours. While Sharp Edge is the most popular, Hallsfell Ridge provides an alternative route and an easier scramble to the summit of Blencathra. This one's highly recommended if the idea of tackling the knife edge of Sharp Edge fills you with dread. Blencathra Walk Guide and Information.
