The municipal district comprises three distinct urban centres: Almonte, El Rocío and Matalascañas.It is primarily a farming area, gradually giving way to dense scrubland and, finally, Doñana, with its marshes and dunes. A few words about El Rocio. El Rocío is a village in the province of Huelva. It is part of the Doñana National and Nature Park. The village is therefore protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site! It is 80km from Seville. El Rocio is famous for its romeria, Europe's largest pilgrimage. The sleepy town of El Rocío is like something out of a Wild West movie. Here, the neighing horses replace the sound of busy traffic, sand replaces the tarmac of busy cities, and horse-tying sticks replace parking spaces. At night, when horsemen come back from their fields, they stop at the tall tables at the bars designed to make sure that Quelques mots sur El Rocio.
