Pending a Memorandum of Understanding, BiblioTech will provide reading resources to the Joint Bases in San Antonio, where libraries are expected to be defunded and closed later this year. A third BiblioTech location is also slated to open in Eastside San Antonio within the new Wheatley Courts in 2016. BiblioTech South opened in 2013 and has served hundreds of thousands of patrons since then. Currently, this branch offers 48 computers, specialized software, printing, faxing and scanning services, two study rooms, a children's room, a community room and exciting programming. Local officials, staff and residents celebrated the grand opening of the Dr. Ricardo Romo BiblioTech branch on Saturday. Located within the Gardens of San Juan Square, the new library promises to bring broadband access, digital stations and e-readers to Westside San Antonio.
