BALTIMORE (AP) — A Baltimore museum is celebrating 50 years of Kwanzaa. The event Friday at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum commemorates the creation by Maryland native Maulana Karenga of the weeklong celebration of African-American and African families, community and culture. Karenga was born in Parsonsburg, on the Eastern Shore. He now heads the Department of Africana Studies at California Scenes from the Reginald F. Lewis Museum in Baltimore's annual Kwanzaa celebration on Dec. 28, 2019. The Lewis virtual Kwanzaa 2021 will open with greetings from Executive Director Terri L. Freeman. The film, Black Candle will also be accessible for online viewing by filmmaker MK Assante. This pre-recorded program will premier on Tuesday, Dec 28th at 1 pm and 7 pm on the Museum's youtube.
