Th is development plan lays out a broad framework for the renewal of housing and the enhancement of the Yesler Terrace community over the next 10 to 20 years. Our mission at Yesler Terrace - and throughout Seattle - is to provide the healthiest, most well-built housing possible for low-income residents. We have maintained the 70-year old When Yesler Terrace finally becomes a planned, mixed-income neighborhood in the next 10 or 15 or maybe even 20 years, it won't be the first in the city. New Holly, Rainier Vista and High Point are Yesler Terrace has had problems, too, smaller-scale ones, but it has also generated a lot of good feeling and nostalgia. But because the buildings are 70 years old and in need of repairs, and The Yesler Terrace Redevelopment Project analyzes longitudinal and repeated cross-sectional data to evaluate the impact of redevelopment on a low-income, ethnically diverse cohort of residents in Yesler Terrace. Yesler Terrace is a 30-acre publicly subsidized housing community in downtown Seattle, Washington, owned and operated by the Seattle Because Interstate 5 gouged an 11-acre hole in Yesler Terrace's west side, taking out 263 apartments, and because the remaining units were upgraded, the site doesn't merit landmark status. Redevelopment of Yesler Terrace provided an opportunity to create a master plan for the community that . updates infrastructure and adds carefully thought out elements that will inspire social, physical and artistic . interaction among not only residents of Yesler but a wide range of citizens and visitors to Seattle.
