Microcontinent月mayenビクトリア

The Jan Mayen Microcontinent petroleum province encompasses the entire area of the microcontinent and was defined as a single assessment unit (AU). Although its geology is poorly known, the microcontinent is thought to consist of late Paleozoic and Mesozoic rift basin stratigraphic sequences similar to those of the highly prospective Norwegian This new volcanic zone up to 50‒80 km wide extended for a distance of about 500 km, being most active in the Eocene, Oligocene, and Miocene. The Jan Mayen microcontinent formed against the background of spreading in the Aegir and Kolbensey ridges [5]. The spreading in the latter ridge was slow and irregular. The Jan Mayen Ridge (JMR) is a 150-km-long and 10-30 km wide seafloor expression in N-S direction in the centre of the North Atlantic and part of the Jan Mayen Microcontinent (JMMC). Previous studies show: The eastern flank of the JMR was formed during the breakup of the Norway Basin along today's Aegir Ridge, prior to magnetic anomaly C23 Eastern Indian Ocean microcontinent formation driven by plate motion changes.
