The Food Bank of South Jersey was founded in 1985 to address the hunger in Camden, NJ, which is unfortunately not a unique problem in the United States. Food Banks serve as an instant answer to hunger, and allows for the community to come together to serve a common purpose. The Food Bank of South Jersey provides not only food, but education on nutritional habits and opportunity to improve the $5 million in third-round funding for Sustain & Serve NJ, a project that funds purchases of meals from New Jersey restaurants by nonprofit groups that distribute those meals in communities of need.
