Alstom's time in Chattanooga is coming to an end. Acquired by General Electric in a $10.6 billion dollar acquisition in late 2015, the French multinational company arrived in Chattanooga with great fanfare December 31, 2007, with an announcement of a $200 million investment in a new manufacturing facility in Chattanooga and would employ 350 people. The project will represent an investment more than $200 million. Last month, Alstom announced that it had been selected by UniStar Nuclear Energy (UNE) to supply at least four steam turbine generators for UNE's planned fleet of nuclear power plants in the U.S. Alstom plans to manufacture turbines for UniStar at its Chattanooga facility.
