The band built a devoted following on the strength of their ecstatic live shows and their popular single "Anna Sun.". In 2014, they released their second major-label studio album, Talking Is Hard. This album includes their biggest hit to date, "Shut Up and It's been a wild decade since Cincinnati's Walk the Moon became the world's Walk the Moon. The band, formed by Nicholas Petricca at Kenyon College Walk the Moon's constant is frontman and songwriter Petricca, who counts Talking Heads and The Police as influences. What comes out of that influence is a refreshing Art Pop shimmer that sounds Neil Armstrong was a mythical figure on July 16, 1969, but in just a few years the astronaut would be chalking out math equations on a University of Cincinnati blackboard and lecturing Black and his classmates on the finer points of aircraft design. It's been 50 years since Armstrong (who died in 2012) left the first footprints on the moon Cincinnati band Walk the Moon was riding high in 2016, when it suddenly had to go into hiatus. Now, back on top again, guitarist Eli Maiman stopped to chat with WCPO.com's Gil Kaufman. A 2008 graduate of the College-Conservatory of Music, Maiman, a composer, arranger and songwriter, started touring nationally with Walk the Moon in 2010. The Cincinnati-based band played UC's free event between stops of their tour of the United States and Canada. Esquire magazine named their hit song "Anna Sun" the song of the summer in 2011. Cincinnati native Walk the Moon will be coming back to the Queen City for a concert that marks the end of the Jewish Cincinnati Bicentennial celebration..
