Aeres is tussen 2004 en 2009 ontstaan uit fusies van het toenmalige Groenhorst College (nu Aeres (V)MBO), de Christelijke Agrarische Hogeschool (CAH, nu Aeres Hogeschool Dronten, Stoas Hogeschool (nu Aeres Hogeschool Wageningen en PTC+ (nu Aeres Tech en Aeres Training Centre). De CAH en Stoas fuseerden in 2013 tot Vilentum Hogeschool en er ontstonden drie faculteiten in Dronten, Almere en Groenhorst College's Ede location. May 2012. Daarom is het schoolgebouw uitgebreid met 750m2 en is er een nieuwe kas gebouwd. Het bestaande gebouw, het dierenverblijf, de docentenkamer en de kantine zijn opgeknapt. Daarmee is de school klaar voor de toekomst en opent zij haar deuren op 25 januari 2017, waarna het openingsfeest losbarst. Waar is feestje? Bij Groenhorst Lelystad was hét feestje!
