Drakyab Tokden Rinpoche Venerable Dakpa Lobsang Tenpai Gyaltsen (1992-1993) Born in 1944 in Dakyab in Eastern Tibet, Togden Rinpoche was recognized as the first incarnation of the great scholar Jamyang Lodoe. At age nine he entered Drepung Loseling Monastery, where he studied until he was forced to flee Tibet when the Chinese communists invaded Togdan Rinpoche (1938 - May 24, 2023) was an Indian lama of Tibetan Buddhism. He was enthroned as the leader of Drikung Kagyu lineage for Ladakh in 1943 and served as the Head Lama for all Tibetan Buddhist lineages in Ladakh. Togdan Rinpoche was one of the most senior lamas [citation needed] of the Drikung Kagyu and Nyingma lineages. In the 1960s, Rinpoche met his root guru H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche in Kalimpong and subsequently sponsored a great transmission of Rinchen Terdzod, by Dudjom Rinpoche in Tso Pema in early 1967. 35 Tulkus and thousands of Monks attended the precious Nyingma transmission that took 6 months to complete for H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche. Togdan Rinpoche (born in 1938) was enthroned as the leader of Drikung Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism for Ladakh in 1943 and serves today as the Head Lama for all Tibetan Buddhist Lineages in Ladakh. Rinpoche is one of the most senior Lamas for the Drikung Kagyu and Nyingma lineages of Tibetan Buddhism. In addition to being an accomplished spiritual leader, Rinpoche played an active role in Senior togden who arrived in India from Tibet in 1958. Togden Choelek was the main meditation teacher in Tashi Jong until he passed away during the late seventies. Affectionately also called Togden Rinpoche, he escaped Tibet with the 8th Khamtrul Rinpoche and passed away in Bhutan at the age of 87.
