Turns out, Starlite Speedway was located in my hometown of Monroe, North Carolina, about 24 miles southeast of Charlotte. Located just off of Highway 74 and Old Charlotte Highway, it was originally built as a drag strip in 1960. It was converted by the owners into a .4 mile semi-banked dirt track in 1962.
