Uzbek Talimarjan TPP implements an investment project worth about US$200 million. 07.06.2021. Uzbekistan's Talimarjan Thermal Power Plant is implementing an investment project for the construction of a high-voltage line of Sogdiana station and an open distribution plant with a capacity of 500 kW each. The launch ceremony for the construction of two new power units was held at the Talimarjan TPP on July 24, the Ministry of Energy reported. The general contractor of the project is the Spanish INTECSA Ingenieria Industrial S.A. and the Japanese Mitsubishi Corporation. JSC Thermal Power Plants signed a contract with them last November. The town of Nuristan (home to employees of the Talimarjan TPP) is the only community close to the plant; the nearest other settlements are over 5 km away. Large parts of the surrounding area have been developed for irrigated agriculture; undeveloped areas consist of Karshi steppe, which is made up of semi-desert scrublands.
