The venerable North Coast Brewing Co. in Fort Bragg, California has announced the release of two limited-edition barrel-aged beers. The first is a barrel-aged version of the brewery's popular Imperial Stout, Old Rasputin. The other is a version of Old Stock Ale that's been aged in rye whiskey barrels. The beers have been released in 500-milliliter bottles wherever North Coast Acme Beer is fermented cold with a lager yeast strain that we selected to spotlight the bready, biscuity malt character, without the fruity esters often associated with ale yeast fermentation. Noble Hops add a subtle spicy and floral character to the aroma. A reduced malt bill yields a lighter body, making Acme Beer refreshing and delicious.
