The Grade II-listed North Western Hall, adjacent to Liverpool Lime Street station, has been used as student accommodation for Liverpool John Moores University since 1996. It previously operated as the North Western hotel within the British Transport Hotels portfolio, which at one time also included the Midland in Manchester, St Pancras in The Radisson RED Liverpool Hotel is a historic building in Liverpool, England.It is located on the east side of Lime Street, fronting Lime Street railway station.Opened in 1871 as the North Western Hotel, it more recently served as office space and student accommodation.It was restored to a hotel from 2018 to 2022. The building is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a North Western Halls, opposite St George's Hall, was built as a hotel in the 1870s but has been used as student accommodation for 20 years. Now it's set to be converted back into a hotel. Grade two-listed and delivered to designs by Alfred Waterhouse in the 1870s, the North Western Halls building was used first as a hotel, then offices then student accommodation. Acquired by Marcus Worthington Properties from Liverpool John Moores University in 2016, the project secured a £20m loan from the Merseyside Pension Fund ahead of a North Western Hall dates back to 1871 and sits by Liverpool Lime Street. The Victorian gem was designed by Alfred Waterhouse, the architect behind Manchester Town Hall, Victoria Gallery & Museum in Liverpool and Rochdale Town Hall.
