It also showcases LA's longest mural, The Great Wall of Los Angeles, (SMMC/MRCA) has completed the Tujunga Wash Demonstration Project, which will landscape both sides of the wash, from Oxnard to Victory Blvd. (a little over half a mile). When combined with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' earlier Greenbelt project, the efforts will create a riparian habitat corridor nearly 2.5 miles long, from Sherman Way to Chandler Blvd. A tributary of the Los Angeles river, the Tujunga Wash is a 13-mile urban stream. Prior to channelization of the wash for flood control in the 1950s, the area was an important zone for groundwater recharge.
