Major retailers had moved to the newer and arguably nicer malls in the suburbs. Much of the plaza was vacant and the stores that remained weren't exactly draws. Through our historic vehicles and photographs, trolley rides and model railroad displays, research library and gift shop, the museum's dedicated volunteers honor our area's transportation history, bringing it to life for today's visitors and preserving it for the future. Midtown Plaza is a city district in downtown Rochester, New York. The site was originally occupied by an indoor shopping mall designed by Victor Gruen and opened in 1962.
