The National Law Enforcement Exploring Conference is conducted every other year and is attended by thousands of Law Enforcement Explorers from throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The conference program provides a week of team and individual competitions, seminars, demonstrations and exhibits. Nassau County Police Always seek community leadership support. Any agency that wants to start an explorer program should first seek the support of community leaders. The education of the community was nearly a non-issue once community leaders got involved and pledged their support. To decide if an explorer program is feasible in your community, find the nearest Explorers are taught the importance of physical fitness, leadership, chain of command, teamwork, and problem-solving. They learn to negotiate scenarios like traffic stops, building searches, domestic disturbances, and investigate mock crime scenes better than some academy recruits. The Chicago Police Explorers Program educates youths between the ages of 13-20 in police operations and functions.
